FOR ALL RIDES: You must have a headlight and tail light on your bike. The time posted is the time we roll out of the parking lot. Be sure to get there early enough to unload your bike, put air in your tires etc. There is not enough daylight for the group to wait for late arrivals - be READY on time.

Weekday Mornings

Tuesday is the kinder, gentler ride option from the weekday rides out of the Winter Park YMCA (Lakemont Ave.). The speed won't go above 22 mph (or heads roll) and the mileage is around 35 miles. We leave each Tuesday morning at 6:30 AM from the Winter Park YMCA, pedal up to Tuscawilla and do a couple of loops around Northern Way. It's a great way to mingle and get a workout in before heading to the office. We return to the YMCA by 9 AM. If you need more information on this ride or any of the weekday rides from the YMCA, please contact Cori Downing.

Which group should I join?

A group, you must be able to ride consistently at a 19-22 mph pace for 45-60 miles at a stretch. You should be comfortable in a tight, fast paceline and proficient at drafting, pulling, and cornering. You should not only be able to keep up, but do so while offering the riders behind you a steady wheel. You may be dropped if you cannot keep pace with the group, so carrying a map and having a cellphone to call for back-up is of the utmost importance. You should also know how to change a flat. Riders who display poor paceline skills may be asked to sit on the back.

Endurance group, you must be able to ride 18-20 mph pace for 45-60 miles at a stretch without redlining (hence the term "endurance"). You should have some paceline experience, be comfortable and able to draft, know how to shift gears. You may be dropped from this ride, so please bring a map and make sure to have your cell phone handy for back-up. You should also know how to change a flat.

Beginner Group, you should be able to ride consistently at 15-17 mph for 25 miles without stopping and know how to ride in a paceline (understand the rules and are comfortable drafting). The ride is NOT for novices who have never drafted or ridden in a paceline. You will NOT be dropped on this ride if you have the right equipment and are willing to draft. You should know how to change a flat and will need to carry a map with you in case of trouble.

If you want distance rides but at a slower pace than the rides offered here, or you would like to lead a group, please contact the BOBbies Rides Committee. We need ride leaders!
