The Legend of the BOBbies
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, in the happy hamlet of Winter Park, lived several beautiful, talented and athletic ladies who enjoyed cycling together. So much time did they spend riding in tandem, they decided they needed a name for themselves, something as special as they and their friendship.
Lo and behold, the name BOBbies came to mind. It stood for Babes on Bikes, which they were, and so it was perfect, which they were also.
These lovely lasses also realized they needed help maintaining their perfection and thus were born the Domestiques. Lowly, but necessary, men became their servants whose tasks were multiple: fixing flat tires, bringing water bottles to parched BOBbies during their rides, cleaning bicycles and keeping BOBbies out of harm's way during a ride.
The rules for BOBbiehood are simple: you must be a woman and you must ride a bike. Anything else, a BOBbie can teach you, i.e, how to apply lipstick during a ride, where to keep your nail file and nail polish on your bike for a quick fix (in your Bento box, silly), and what cycling clothes are flattering to the figure.
In an effort to help other ladies feel special, the BOBbies designed a cycling outfit that would make heads turn and men swoon. Upon seeing these women donned in BOBbies jerseys, shorts, vests and other necessary apparel, onlookers have exclaimed, “There goes the Pink Train.”
